Introduction
Exporting photos and signatures from Fulcrum allows you to use your media files outside the platform for reporting, analysis, or archiving. This guide explains how to export your media using both the Downloader and the Exporter tools and highlights key differences between the two methods.
Prerequisites
Access to Fulcrum with permission to export data
A basic understanding of your Fulcrum app’s records and media fields
Installed ZIP file extraction software
Steps
1. Exporting Using the Downloader
Open the Fulcrum app and navigate to the dataset you want to export.
Select the Downloader option.
Choose the records you want to include in the export.
Configure the media columns:
URL: Provides a link to view the media in Fulcrum (login required).
Media ID: Shows the system-generated unique ID.
Custom Media File Name: If you’ve set custom names, they appear here.
Click Download to export your data and photos as a ZIP file.
2. Exporting Using the Exporter
Navigate to the Exporter tool within Fulcrum.
Select the dataset you want to export.
Initiate the export; the system will generate a ZIP file containing:
All photos and signatures in .jpg format
An additional file with EXIF data for each photo
3. Expected Outcome
After completing the export:
All photos and signatures will be contained in a ZIP file.
Each record’s file name will match the system-generated name for uniqueness.
If using the Exporter, you will also have EXIF data available for each photo.
Troubleshooting
ZIP file is empty or missing media: Confirm you selected the correct records and media columns before exporting.
Cannot open photos: Ensure you are using software that supports .jpg files.
EXIF data missing: Only included when using the Exporter, not the Downloader.
Note: When exporting through the Downloader, choose the media column option that best fits your workflow. Using URLs requires a Fulcrum login but allows direct access to media without managing local files.
