Photo FastFill is currently in beta and is available to all Fulcrum plans during the beta period. When Photo FastFill is generally available, it will require an Elite or Enterprise plan. Check out our plans page for more information.

Using Photo FastFill on the Fulcrum Mobile App

How to Use Photo FastFill on the Fulcrum Mobile App

  1. Open a record and add a photo to a photo field that has Photo FastFill enabled. Photo FastFill also works with photos that are already on the record.

  2. Tap the Extract button next to the photo field.

  3. If the field has more than one photo, choose which photos to use, then tap Extract.

    If a photo field has more than one photo, a Select Photos screen opens when you tap the Photo FastFill icon so you can pick exactly which photos to use. Photo FastFill can analyze up to 3 photos at a time.

  4. Photo FastFill reads the photos and fills in the fields your admin selected. You can keep working on the record while it processes.

  5. Review the filled-in values and make any changes you need before saving the record.

You can use Photo FastFill more than once on the same record, for example after adding another photo. Each run replaces the values in the fields it fills, so double-check any fields you have already edited by hand.

Tips for Achieving Better Photo FastFill Results

  1. Take clear, well-lit photos with the information you want to capture filling most of the frame, such as a tag, label, or sign.

  2. Avoid glare, shadows, and blur. If a photo is hard for you to read, it will be hard for Photo FastFill to read.

  3. Choose only the photos that contain the information you need. Fewer, more relevant photos give better results than a mix of unrelated photos.

Enable Photo FastFill for a Photo Field & Select Target Fields

Admins choose which photo fields use Photo FastFill. The Photo FastFill option in the mobile app appears only next to photo fields where it is enabled.

  1. Open the app in the App Builder and select FastFill Settings.

  2. Click on Select Source Element and choose the photo field you want to enable Photo FastFill for.
    ​

  3. Click Select Fields.
    ​

  4. Check the fields you want filled. Fields are listed in the same order as in your form, and only fields that Photo FastFill can fill are shown.

    Photo FastFill will only fill the fields you select.
    ​

  5. Select Apply.

  6. You can set up Photo FastFill for multiple photo fields in your app. Below is an example of what it would look like with Photo FastFill set up for two different photo fields in the app.

  7. Click Save and then Save App.

AI Prompt

The AI Prompt you add to a field guides how Photo FastFill fills it out, just like it does for Audio FastFill. Add specific instructions, such as formatting tips or the exact content you want, so the AI knows what to do. For example, on a Pole Tag field you might write "Include only the tag number, no other text."

Note: There is a 150-character limit for each field's AI Prompt.

Tips for Optimizing Your Fulcrum Apps for Photo FastFill

  1. Use descriptive, concise, and unique field labels and data names. This additional context helps the AI understand which information belongs in which field. For example, use pole_tag instead of tag.

  2. Only select the fields that the photo actually contains information for. Selecting fewer, more relevant fields gives better results.

  3. Use concise choice lists. Larger lists add to inaccuracies and processing time.

Notes/Limits

  • Photo FastFill requires an internet connection.

  • Photo FastFill processes up to 3 photos at a time. If a field has more photos, you choose which ones to use.

  • Photo FastFill replaces the existing values in the fields it fills.

  • Photo FastFill is available in the Fulcrum iOS and Android apps.

  • There is a 150-character limit for each field's AI Prompt.

  • Photo FastFill is in beta. Results may vary, and we would love your feedback.
