Accessing the Map View
Basemaps and layers are available in the iOS App right from the map view. To get to the map view:
Select the app that you are going to work with from the apps list.
If you do not see the map view, select the Map View option on the lower-left corner of the screen.
Accessing the Basemaps and Layers
From the map view, you can open the basemaps and layers menu by tapping the button on the map.
Basemaps
Once you click the basemaps and layers button, the available options will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. From here you can select between the different basemaps, just by tapping on the one you want to use.
Basemaps may also be downloaded for offline use (when supported).
Included Basemaps
Fulcrum provides a range of included basemap options depending on the map engine in use:
Esri Basemaps – Streets, Satellite, Hybrid (satellite + labels), and Terrain
Google Basemaps(via Esri Map Engine) – Google Streets, Google Satellite, Google Hybrid, and Google Terrain
Tip: When using Esri Maps, you’ll now see both Esri and Google basemap options available in the same list.
Custom Layers
Right below the Basemaps you will find your custom layers. These can be added to Fulcrum through the web app or by authenticating with ArcGIS.
From this section, you can:
Enable or disable layers by toggling them on/off.
Change the ordering of layers (tap Edit, then drag to reorder).
Search for specific layers.
Above this section, you also have the option to Connect to ArcGIS to access your Feature Service Layers if you haven’t already.
Downloading Layers for Offline Use
Both MBTiles Layers and ArcGIS Feature Service Layers can be used offline.
To download an MBTiles layer, click the Download button under the layer’s title and description.
To download a Feature Service Layer, select Make Available Offline under the layer’s title and description.
We recommend downloading your layers in advance while connected to WiFi or strong cellular service. Once downloaded, you’ll see a green message confirming the layer is Available offline.
Notes
Included basemap options include Esri and Google basemaps when using the Esri Map Engine.
Supported custom map layer types:
MBTiles (online + offline)
ArcGIS Feature Service Layers (online + offline)

Be sure to download offline maps before heading out to collect data in areas without connectivity.
MBTile layers can either be uploaded directly to the device or added through the Fulcrum web app.
