This article shows you how to add the AI Toolkit and Fulcrum MCP to a ChatGPT workspace. A workspace administrator sets up both components once, and then each person connects with their own API token. In ChatGPT, MCP connections are called apps.

You need a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace. Personal ChatGPT plans (Free, Plus, and Pro) don't support custom connections that use an API token. If you have a personal plan, see Setting up Fulcrum MCP and the AI Toolkit in Codex.

Prerequisites

Adding the AI Toolkit to your workspace

A workspace administrator completes this section once.

  1. In your ChatGPT workspace settings, select Plugins.

  2. Select Import marketplace.

  3. Enter https://github.com/fulcrumapp/fulcrum-ai-toolkit, then select Import marketplace.

  4. Wait for the import to finish.

  5. Select the Organization tab and confirm that Fulcrum AI Toolkit is enabled.

Expected outcome: The AI Toolkit is available to everyone in your workspace.

Creating the Fulcrum app

A workspace administrator completes this section once.

  1. Select Apps, then select Create.

  2. In Name, enter Fulcrum.

  3. In the server URL field, enter your region's endpoint.

  4. Under Authentication, select Access token / API key.

  5. Under Header scheme, confirm that Bearer is selected.

  6. Review the warnings about custom connections, select each confirmation checkbox, then select Create. The app appears with the status Draft.

  7. Open the app and select Accept or Trust for each item listed.

  8. Select Publish.

Expected outcome: The Fulcrum app is published and available to everyone in your workspace.

Connecting your Fulcrum organization

Each person in the workspace completes this section.

  1. Select Plugins, search for Fulcrum AI Toolkit, then select Add.

  2. Open the Fulcrum app, then select Connect.

  3. Enter your API token, then select Connect.

Enter only the token. Don't type "Bearer" before it. ChatGPT adds it automatically, and the connection fails if you enter it yourself.

Expected outcome: The Fulcrum app shows as connected.

Testing the connection

Confirm that ChatGPT can reach your organization.

  1. Start a new chat.

  2. Select + in the message box, then select Fulcrum AI Toolkit and Fulcrum.

  3. Enter: "How many apps are in my Fulcrum organization?"

Expected outcome: ChatGPT uses the Fulcrum app to look up your apps and answers with the number.

Notes

  • The Apps page can take a while to load because it lists thousands of apps.

  • App names must be unique in your workspace. If you get an error about a duplicate name, choose a different name.

  • Enabling the AI Toolkit for your workspace doesn't add it for each person. Each person also adds it for themselves.

  • If the AI Toolkit or the Fulcrum app doesn't appear in the + menu right after setup, refresh the page.

  • If your workspace can't connect to GitHub, download the AI Toolkit ZIP file from the Fulcrum AI Toolkit on GitHub and upload it on the Plugins page instead.
