A Yes/No field in Fulcrum is designed to streamline data entry where the number of possible responses is limited. It provides users with quick, button-style options that are easy to select on both the web and mobile apps.

Functionality

  • A Yes/No field can have up to three defined selections (e.g., Yes, No, N/A).

  • It only allows one selection to be made and stored (single choice).

  • Options are displayed as buttons for faster, more intuitive entry.

  • Each option can include a label (what the user sees) and a value (what is stored in the database).

Design Best Practices

  • Use a Yes/No field when a question has three or fewer possible answers.

  • Use a Choice Field when there are four or more possible answers.

  • Yes/No fields offer quicker, single-tap responses for efficiency.

  • Choice Fields require extra clicks and more deliberate selection, but they provide flexibility, such as an "Other" option.

Example Use Cases

  • Safety checklists (e.g., Did you check the tire pressure? β†’ Yes/No).

  • Quality control inspections (e.g., Is the item damaged? β†’ Pass/Fail).

  • Compliance checks (e.g., Is the equipment powered on? β†’ Yes/No/N/A).

Web App View

In the web app’s record editor, a Yes/No field displays as clearly labeled buttons, enabling quick, accurate selection for field staff and office users alike.
